Drainage Contractor for Cabot, Arkansas Clay Soil & Standing Water Problems

Engineered Solutions for Clay Soil, Standing Water, and Poor Drainage

Drainage problems in Cabot are often caused by heavy clay soil, flat farmland terrain, and poor water runoff conditions. Unlike rocky hillside areas, water in Cabot tends to hold in the ground, creating standing water, soggy yards, erosion, foundation issues, and hydrostatic pressure around homes and structures.
At Southern Pines Landscaping & Excavation, we design drainage systems specifically for Central Arkansas soil conditions. We don’t just bury pipe and hope for the best ; we calculate proper water flow using laser grading, GPS elevations, pipe sizing, and engineered stormwater management solutions built to handle Arkansas rainfall.
From French drains, downspout drainage, catch basins, sump pump systems, culverts, and yard grading to large-scale stormwater runoff correction, every drainage system is designed to move water efficiently while protecting your home, foundation, retaining walls, driveway, and property from long-term water damage.
Because Cabot area soil expands when saturated, proper drainage design is critical. Our systems are built with proper slope, clean aggregate, water conveyance planning, and discharge management to prevent backups, washouts, standing water, and drainage failure.
We proudly provide professional drainage solutions throughout Cabot, Austin, Ward, Lonoke, Beebe, Vilonia, and surrounding Central Arkansas areas.

Previous Projects

Standing Water Curtain Drain in Cabot, AR
This home was located at the bottom of a hillside where underground spring water and surface runoff were saturating the backyard and creating long-term drainage concerns around the foundation.
Due to Cabot’s dense clay soil conditions, the water was unable to properly absorb into the ground, leading to standing water, soft soil conditions, and hydrostatic pressure buildup around the property.
To correct the issue, we installed a professionally engineered curtain drain system designed to intercept and redirect underground water flow before it could reach the home. The system also included a surface absorption and collection area to manage heavy rainfall and standing surface water during storm events.
Using proper grading, aggregate drainage material, and calculated pipe elevations, the system now safely diverts groundwater around the structure while improving yard drainage and reducing future foundation and erosion risks.
Sump-pump and Curtain Drain Installation in Cabot, AR
This project involved a 10-foot-deep trench surrounding an in-ground pool where high groundwater levels and hydrostatic pressure were causing the pool liner to lift and separate from the pool structure.
Due to the heavy clay soil conditions common throughout Cabot and Central Arkansas, groundwater was becoming trapped around the pool shell with no natural drainage path, creating continuous pressure beneath the liner system.
To permanently correct the issue, we installed a professionally engineered curtain drain system paired with a sump pump discharge system designed to intercept, collect, and remove groundwater before pressure could build beneath the pool.
Using calculated elevations, proper aggregate backfill, and continuous water conveyance, the drainage system now actively controls groundwater around the pool structure while protecting the liner, surrounding soil, and foundation area from future water damage and movement.
Since installation, the homeowner has avoided repeated liner failures and costly repair expenses caused by groundwater intrusion.
Sump-pump Drainage System Installation in Cabot, AR
This home was experiencing severe standing water along the foundation that remained for months after heavy spring rainfall. The saturated soil conditions were creating mold, wood rot, and increasing the risk of long-term foundation damage.
Like many properties in Cabot, the dense clay soil prevented water from naturally draining away from the home, allowing groundwater and surface runoff to collect around the foundation.
Before foundation repairs could begin, the drainage issue had to be permanently corrected. We designed and installed a 4 foot deep decorative dry well system that blended into the landscape while providing a collection point for excess groundwater.
At the bottom of the system, we installed a high capacity 4,500 GPH sump pump designed to automatically remove collected water and discharge it away from the home. The completed system eliminated the standing water problem, protected the foundation from future moisture damage, and restored proper drainage around the property.
Today, the area remains dry even during extended periods of rainfall, helping protect the homeowner’s investment and preventing future water related structural issues.
Dry Creek Bed Drainage Installation in Lonoke, AR
This property was experiencing large amounts of surface runoff flowing across the backyard during heavy rain events, causing erosion, standing water, and washout issues throughout the property.
After evaluating the drainage patterns, elevation changes, and water volume affecting the site, we designed and installed a large-scale dry creek bed system to safely control and redirect stormwater runoff across the property.
The final installation included over 1,000 feet of decorative rock creek bed designed to slow water velocity, reduce erosion, improve drainage flow, and create a natural-looking water conveyance solution that blended into the surrounding landscape.
Using proper grading techniques and calculated flow management, the system now channels stormwater away from the home and surrounding yard while protecting the property from future washouts and standing water issues common throughout the Lonoke County area.
